Turn Off the Lights is a browser extension developed by Stefan Van Damme that lets users dim everything on their screen except the video they are watching. A gray lamp icon is displayed in the browser menu bar when a video is detected; users click on the icon to make the screen surrounding the video fade. Clicking outside the video restores the rest of the screen. Users can adjust the opacity of the screen blocking and select a color other than black if desired. The extension can also be set to dim the screen automatically, and there are a variety of YouTube-specific features as well to bring an object to the front. A keyboard shortcut gives users quick access to the program's services.

How does it work?

With a single click on the analog clock icon on the toolbar, you will see a popup window show up. In this Date Today popup window, you can see the current time. That includes the day number, month, day of the week, and the local time. Try it yourself on the example on the left-hand side.

Get current Timestamp

In addition to showing the current time, it can also get the current timestamp in your clipboard. And you can customize this timestamp format in the Date Today Options page. Move with your mouse now in that popup window and click anywhere inside this clock preview window.

Night Mode Clock

In the Date Today Options page you can enable the feature 'Night Mode'. This will change the clock theme from a day to a night theme. And that by your chosen colors. Furthermore, you get this feature automatically enabled on a certain time. Such as on 11 pm when it is night outside.

Date Today badge

You can show the current time below in the Date Today browser extension icon. Or show the current day number in the icon, and the month in the badge. Everything can be customized to your personal touch in the Options page. That includes the badge color to your favorite color.

Furthermore, the clock icon you see in your web browser toolbar is not a static icon. But a real clock that dynamically updates to the correct local time. That includes the small hour hand and the larger minute hand. So with a glance at this clock, you can see and read your current local time.
